I draw in an abstract style, lightly working up patterns with pencil that are suggestive of ephemeral forms, like rain, clouds, or leaves rustling in the wind. The style is influenced by my interest in Zen Buddhism, the loose somewhat random process of mark making, a play between form and formlessness. The drawing above is a section from a Moleskine Japanese accordion style notebook, this enabled me to draw a continuos piece that is over three metres in length when opened fully. The notebook was exhibited in 2010 at the Galway Arts Centre as part of my first solo exhibition ‘This Floating World’.
